Felinfoel Brewery were delighted to have been recognisded last month by the Carmarthen Civic Society. The recognition, for work in maintaining the towscape of Carmarthen, was collected at an awards evening held in the town centre on Wednesday 17th July. The brewery's certificate related to the replacement porch over the entrance to the Boars Head Hotel.
The Boars Head is one of Carmarthen's most historic public houses and a new canopy was required after the previous one was damaged beyond repair. A local blacksmith, who was also recognised at the event, was tasked with creating a replica and the individual stained glass panels have also been replaced.
The brewery was represented by Dominic Rowley and Lesley Williams of the Estates Department. Lesley Williams said "Maintaining the character of our properties is of paramount importance to us as we are Wales' oldest surviving brewery. We are proud to have received the award and look forward to seeing the canopy for many years to come."
